Felix’ Open Source Radar

  • DITA – Some interesting ideas. Implementation big pile of crap. Avoid.
  • LaTeX – A classic. Robust implementation. Not really a shining example for readability and good error messages, but good support on the web. Always to be preferred over some HTML=>PDF “reporting” tool. Use were appropriate
  • Rhino JavaScript-Engine: Fast, fun to use. Massive threading issues. Nobody should have told the kids about ThreadLocals.
  • Spring: avoid
  • Jakarta Commons: A bit dated need a revamp, but still a defacto standard.
  • Concordion: Avoid
